I’ve been using eSIMs for a couple of years now and I wouldn’t go back. The first time I landed abroad and my phone connected automatically without touching a thing, it felt like a small miracle. No hunting for a SIM kiosk, no paying over the odds for roaming, no faff.

Is my phone compatible?

Data allowance - think about how you actually use your phone on holiday. If you’re navigating, posting, and streaming, a small plan won’t last long.
Validity - most plans run from the day you activate, not the day you buy. Make sure it covers your full trip.
Top-up options - some providers let you add more data on the go, others don’t. Worth knowing before you need it.
